Hey this is a great question and i suppose has a complicated answer.
For those involved in alcohol production then it has a very positive impact on their life. The whisky industry alone is worth £6 billion to the UK economy so there will be lots of people making a very good living off that side of things.
In terms of health benefits and impacts that way, mmm well there is lots of differing opinion on that. What most people agree that alcohol in moderation is not necessarily a bad thing but it can become a massive problem both for health and society if you drink it to excess.
some possible benefits of alcohol in moderation are:
Reducing your risk of developing and dying of heart disease.
Possibly reducing your risk of ischemic stroke (when the arteries to your brain become narrowed or blocked, causing severely reduced blood flow)
Possibly reducing your risk of diabetes.
The key word there is possibly(we do not really know for sure as everyone is different)
