      Hey,

when plants are stressed they stop doing the things they normally do. They stop growing, they become pale (yellow), they wilt (shrink and shrivel) and if it gets too bad then their cells start to die, leaves with black spots etc is called necrosis. Funnily enough though they grow lots of roots underground when they are first stressed to try and find the thing they are missing (water / food)
