This is a hard question to answer as it is very hard to get all of the required data to make this conclusion. Sometimes in science it is hard to say without knowing the whole picture. From what reading i have done, it seems that in the majority of deaths (not all) the people has some form of underlying health condition that led the virus to do more damage. The other thing is the age demographic, it appears to be more fatal in elderly (older than 60) adults.
But like i said it is hard to give a definitive answer at the moment. only when the virus is under control will we be able to look back and make a clear statement on what led to mortality in patients.
