      plants have a different scent in order to attract different pollinators. For plants to reproduce they need to move their pollen (male sex part) from one flower to another. Different plants will have different pollinators, it might be insects like bees or even birds. So they release different smells to attract different pollinators.

      Some plants can even change their smell to attract different insects depending on the time of the year

      But we benefit because some of the flowers smell really nice.
